The Be a Pro mode still feels a little basic and doesn’t have enough depth to it which is a shame because I feel they could do so much more with this mode.Game’s tend to go on for too long and that’s mainly because it’s too easy to gift a penalty.I quite enjoyed last year’s instalment of NHL but I did feel that it lacked in a few areas which in the end did hold it back. There are a few new inclusions dotted around the game and some of them do improve the game quite a bit and they also make the game more accessible. The new pond hockey mode is an incredible amount of fun and it adds to the overall content which is massive to say the least. The controls take a bit of getting used to at the start I must admit that I was very impressed with how much depth they have whilst also remaining tight and responsive throughout. I found the skating to be much improved this time around and on the whole most of the different mechanics feel better this time around. I found The game looks and sounds better than ever and both the visuals and sound design really do enhance the gameplay quite considerably. The game looks and sounds better than ever and both the visuals and sound design really do enhance the gameplay quite considerably. This edition has given me a cautious hope that they are trending in the right direction. Like a lot of you, EA has pissed me off for many years with their NHL product. This has given a massive new element to club play, and meaningful games and progression to look forward to. Moving on, the addition of player builds, traits, and changing players height and weight gives you a plethora of options to polish your player. I ancitipate it will be fixed soon, but it's unacceptable EA hasnt really publicly addressed it. EASHL: The servers are trashed right now and drop in is unplayable. It feels like you have more weapons to counter a good offense. You are able to take away lanes with your stick, and force puck carriers into unfavourable situations. The stick lift is no longer a penalty button, but is only effective in close. Body positioning and angle of attack are rewarded more than ever, and the game forces you to take a measured approach to defense. You can, but you'll take 10 penalties a game. No longer can you haphazardly swing your stick at the puck/puck carrier at any angle.

Defense: In 18, **** defenders were often bailed out by their ability to spam poke check. Gone (hopefully) are the days of players being able to bounce off the boards and defenders. Deking is much more challenging and the game forces you to be creative and diverse with how you attack. Agility and turning feel more realistic than ever, which allows you to control your player much more effectively. Skating: It feels better than popping bubble wrap. They canned their lanky producer Rammer in the off-season, and clearly the change has taken them in a new direction. This is the best installment since NHL 14 in my opinion, and gives me a quaint feeling of hope for the future of the Franchise.
